la vega, she is on the scene of a big-rig crash which make people use a different route. jeanine? >> reporter: we are here in the northbound lanes of highway 101 -- [ technical difficulties, stand by ] >> reporter: we are told traffic is backed up for miles because of a big-rig which crashed and spilled fuel and it all happened just before 3:00 a.m., they crashed into 40 feet of guardrail and a light pole. there is a lot of swifted -- twisted light and metal. it leaked 30 gallons of fuel onto the freeway. no other vehicles were involved but traffic is inching along in the northbound lanes. chp is working with caltrans to clean up this mess. >> fortunately this happened before 3:00 a.m. so there was not a lot of

traffic on the roadway and he did only receive minor injuries and no other vehicles were hit as well. >> reporter: now the driver of the big-rig told cnbc shall -- now the driver of the big-rig was not under the influence. he did pass the sobriety test. it is waiting to be towed and caltrans workers are cleaning up and they are still waiting for them to bring out containers onto the freeway so this could take hours. again just two hours are open south of fair oaks on 101 and it is unclear when a third lane will open up. it's very clear, it could be

daylight but we will keep you posted as the morning comes along. janine de la vega ktvu channel 2 morning news. we are following developing news of a fire that has turned into a crime scene. this is near vienna drive where tara moriarty just arrived on the scene, tara? >> reporter: yes, we just pulled up a couple of minutes ago and we went through a mobile home park in order to get here and it's sort of near highway 101 and you can see where the flames leaped up and we are hearing reports that this is a possible fatal fire and we don't know who was in the home at the time the flames broke out and we know it happened at around 11:30 and a hot water heater is exposed. we have put in calls but at this point, our calls have not been returned and nobody will

give us any information on the scene. all we know is one person may have died and we will of course stay on top of this and right now there are flashlights sticking around and we are told sunny veil public safety department will be having a press conference later today at the department and we will of course try to get more information for you. live from sunny veil, i am tara moriarty, ktvu channel 2 morning news. in overnight news, a senior care facility caught fire more the second time in two weeks. a linen cart on third avenue caught fire after 2:00 this morning. the facility sprinkler system contained fire moving to the cart. at the laundry room it forced evacuations as well. >> >> a -- a bomb square on the train

problems. he was kidnapped from a school bus after the gunman shot and killed the bus driver. he is described as a retired veteran with anti-american views. new this morning syria and iran are threatening to retaliate against syria. they were threatening a weapons convoy when it striked inside and it was believed to contain antiaircraft weapons to hezbollah. the concern was if hezbollah were able to get those weapons they would shoot down israeli airplanes. time now 6:17, well a senate is allowing the treasury department to keep borrowing money for four more months. it extends and requires them to

-- jean mean you spoke -- and you spoke with the big-rig driver? >> reporter: yes, he had blood all over his face and he said in all of his 30 years of driving he never had an accident like this. you can see all of this twisted metal and debris where his big- rig crashed. it also spilled fuel and it has shut down two lanes of northbound 101 and you can see over here, if my photographer pans over, just two lanes are now open and we just had an update where they said they just brought in containers to start loading up the remaining fuel and this happened before 3:00 a.m. and the driver thrifted off to -- drifted off to the shoulder and crashed into 30 feet. in the process, the right side of the driver's fuel tank was punctured and spilled 20 - 30 gallons of fuel on the shoulder. they have close off two lanes leading up to the fair oaks

exit and the driver again has minor cuts to his face and he is glad no other vehicles were involved. >> well, he cut me in the front and i make it more to the right and so quick like that, i lost my control over the shoulder there on the side, that is what happened, i look and that was very bad. >> okay. >> reporter: that driver was given a sobriety test and he passed and so the chp believes he is not under the influence at all. right now caltrans is bringing in street sweepers and actually, if we turn the camera around you can see the street sweeper will be clearing up this debris and we just got a time estimate from chp when they think all lanes of traffic will be open. they are telling us they think everything will be opened up an hour from now and we are

information. i am tara moriarty, ktvu channel 2 morning news. well it has been 24 years since an east bay 13-year-old girl vanished while walking to practice. family and friends marched in a can tell light vigil -- candle light vigil. they traced the route she took in january 19th 89, the day -- january, 1989, the day she disappeared. they are pursuing another missing child case, on tuesday investigators searched a home near a bus stop where then kevin collins was last seen in 1984. the home was targeted because the former person living there was a potential suspect and

that man has since died and meanwhile they will test bones found at the home but they are believed to be from an animal. superior court of new jersey will eliminate jobs and close courtrooms all because of state budget cuts. five court commissioner positions are going to be cut. 16 to 21 staff jobs wills be cut. five courtrooms will be closed and most court services will be suspended in san mateo and all of this could happen as early as july. chp will keep patrolling the streets of oakland for at least the next 30 days. still not clear on whether the chp will be paid and back in november they offered to help free of charge but that deal expires today. the city is now trying to work out a new plan to pay for that

offshore breeze, there is not a lot but warmer weather will be leveled off and we will keep it nice into the weekend. it is slicely nicer on the temperatures 48 in san francisco but a lot of 30s around, patchy fog, little around the bay but it is shallow and not much. also a little off the coast but not much. the offshore breeze is still in place and that means temperatures will warm up pretty fast even though it's cold, we'll see temperatures starting off to a few 60s and 70s. also sent noma lower 60s milpitas 70 degrees, sunny veil is in there as well, sun noma

big bored, dow jones industrial average is up 26 points. a home invasion robbery, they are facing charges of false imprisonment, assault with a deadly weapon, kidnapping and armed robbery. police say they robbed an elderly couple and then stole their two cars and escaped. the three men are suspects in several other recent crimes. one suspect is 18-year-old james palmerson. he made headlines years ago as a 14-year-old runaway. palmer and his 13-year-old girlfriend stole his grandparents car. this photo shows the two of them while they were on the run and they were found in a denver suburb three days later, they were cold and hungry but safe. paternities and sore
